In Sierra Leone, over three districts have been placed under quarantine because of the Ebola virus outbreak. Ebola has put over 6,500 people in a deadly and sickened state within Liberia, New Guinea, and Sierra Leone. With the amount of the sickened increasing so drastically, the more the government attempts to contain it. Within the three districts, over six million people are living as if they have the virus themselves, when in fact they may be healthy. This is otherwise being known as quarantine, where until everyone in a particular place is tested and declared as being healthy, no one is to leave or enter.
Due to the situation, the food prices have been thrown sky high, and some places have even shutdown business; because there is no one able to work.
Though it is believed that approximately 1.2 million people will be sickened by January 2015, we hope a cure can be found.
In my opinion, many lifes will be taken before a cure is able to be found, causing much death and famine. However, i do hope for the best.

Though we hope for the best we also must be prepared for the worst.

I would like to be an optimist about this, but I don't see any help in that. Countries like Sierra Leone and Liberia, and West Africa in general, will be consumed with this disease. West Africa is full of LDC's, meaning they lack resources and are therefore very undeveloped, cannot contain this, at least not alone. I think that Ebola will continue to spread throughout Africa, saying they cannot contain it. I mean, what can they do? It has already been known that many African doctors refuse to help Ebola victims, leaving them hopeless. Some hospitals are so overpopulated they have to shut down- with everyone in there left. This makes people paranoid. Because of this fear- fear of death and Ebola- they will flea. They disease will disperse into other countries.
ReplyDeletePersonally, I'd like to believe that the US can defend itself, saying we are a MDC... but who's going to defend the LDC's? The MDC's have been joining together to help, but that's not enough... so what is?
